Hannah Caprice is a Canadian–Australian emerging artist with Indo-Trinidadian and Slavic heritage. She explores themes such as memory, identity, connection with others and the search for self, and she expresses this using magical realism. As her practice develops, concern for the environment and the future for life on a post-human Earth are beginning to emerge in her work.

Her experiences as a cross-cultural kid often creep their way into her work. She observes a strange beauty in being an adaptable misfit: belonging everywhere and nowhere; feeling fragmented and whole all at once.

While she occasionally draws on myth, folklore and literature, she strives to create work that is open and playful, provoking viewers to contemplate their own meanings.

Memory and identity are fluid in nature, so viewers are invited to return to her work over time — to perceive it differently and discover new information or transformed features. This is an invitation for reflection and introspection and a subtle reminder that change is constant.
