Playing with cutouts

Not much to say here, except that I have been doing a lot of cutting out of images. No matter what I'm working on, collage always seems to take center stage in my work - whether it's analogue or digital, or starts out digital and ends up as analogue. Although I enjoy it a great deal, figuring out where it'll go is a totally different kettle of fish...







I will often just drop images onto a surface together just to see if a narrative emerges. I love the one below, but I'm still trying to figure out if it's the right fit for the concept of intimacy. Not so sure it is - seems to have more of an environmental angle to it.




I've also decided that I need to organise my library of collage cut-outs, which normally live in cookie tins. I discovered a Canadian artist, Jacob Intilé, who uses old photo albums to do this. So I headed out to my local op shop, picked one up, and started organising. I will not post every page in the album (there are many), but here's an idea of how I've organised them::
